Hang On Brother is a collection of soulful stories. The album is full of tales of love, love lost, the promise of the future, friendship, and the pain of loss. In Twilight, frontman and songwriter Paul Leon Ramsey shares an imagined conversation between his late parents about experiencing the presence of their firstborn after her death. Title track Hang On Brother is a rallying cry for strength to a friend who has suffered a breakdown, Sad Happiness a challenge to the spiritual vacancy of our current political climate, and Friday Night an invitation to let go of anything keeping you from enjoying the moment. The beauty of Hang On Brother is in the story the stories tell and the power and depth of the music which accompanies the story. In the tradition of soul music, with the foundation of a pulsing rhythm section (Eric Marshall, drums; Mark Daniel Nelson, Bass;), a driving guitar (Eric Rudnick), and the zestful keys of Andy Schneider; The Revival offers a fulfilling musical experience on every song. Of course, the Devils Horns (Bre Knight, trombone; Randy Runyan, trumpet; and Michael Windham, saxophone) are the exclamation mark punctuating the entire album. Paul Leon Ramsey writes and sings with depth, nuance, range, and soul. The Revival makes you want to be there, wherever they are. In their fourth year, Hang On Brother is the expression of Leon and the Revival's arrival as a contender on the soul scene.
